HERBSTGOLD - Festival in Eisenstadt 2023
HERBSTGOLD - Festival in Eisenstadt 2023

HERBSTGOLD - Festival in Eisenstadt from September 9th to 24th under the motto "Longing".
"In order to understand people, you have to know their desires. However, it would be too trivial to relate longing solely to the romantic. It is worth pausing again and again and becoming aware of your own longings. Especially in difficult and uncertain times, the longing for a better world unites us. Music is the immediate manifestation of human longing. So what could be more obvious than to immerse yourself in the world of music, which only arises through movements of feelings and longing vibrations of the soul? I would like to share this immersion in all variants of longing with you." Julian Rachlin, Artistic Director
Among the guests of the Festival in 2023 will be Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Filarmonica della Scala, John Eliot Gardiner, Lucy Crowe, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and others.
The composers of this year's concert programs not only worked through the longing for loved ones, but also for death, for home and peace. The opening concert already features Sergei Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 and Piotr I. Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, two of these works written in times of restlessness, the search for a new simplicity and quarreling with fate. “Lisztomania”, on the other hand, presents Franz Liszt like never before.
His life and his music are full of longing - longing for artistic perfection, for Hungary, for unconditional love. Every life story finds the works that suit it, their favorite composers and favorite interpreters and all of this can be found again this year at HERBSTGOLD: moving concert experiences as a stimulator of the longing for love, fulfillment and peace. I guarantee you unforgettable and eventful concert days at the HERBSTGOLD - Festival in Eisenstadt 2023!
About the HERBSTGOLD - Festival in Eisenstadt
HERBSTGOLD is the name of the new autumn festival at Esterházy Palace, which combines classical, jazz and Balkan-Romani music with culinary treats and the traditions of this historic place.
At the heart of HERBSTGOLD is the relationship between tradition and progress, the ties that link successive generations of composers, but also the ways in which European classical music has been enriched by folk music from the Balkans and, since the Turkish wars, music of the Orient.
The historical orangery in the Palace park provides an atmospheric setting for culinary discoveries at Pan O´Gusto, the festival for Pannonian delicacies. Traditional and modern dishes are presented in the show kitchen, and many guests enjoy the garden’s relaxed atmosphere.
Esterházy Palace is the foremost cultural monument in Burgenland. The sumptuous rooms with their festive interior architecture and decorations bring the past aura of the princes and the splendour of their court back to life. And the palace is still the hub of the cultural scene today, the sumptuous backdrop for festivities and social occasions. With the takeover after forty years on 1 January 2010, the palace in Eisenstadt has once more become the central cultural and event venue of the Esterházy Private Foundation, offering guests from all over the world a wide-ranging programme of events and cultural exchange.
