About
The members of the Dresden Symphony Choir have been on the stage of the Semper Opera since 1915. The first artistic director, the then choir director of the Dresden Court Opera, Karl Maria Pembaur, had the intention of helping the main professional state opera choir for concerts and the large choral scenes, as can be found particularly in Wagner's and Verdi's operas put.
Since that time, the symphony choir has acted as an extra choir of the Semperoper Dresden in numerous opera productions, including a. "Lohengrin," "Tannhauser," "Fidelio," and "Hansel and Gretel." The baroque semi-opera "King Arthur" had its premiere on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Dresden State Theater in 2013. In this cooperation between the State Theater and the State Opera, the Symphony Choir was solely responsible for the choral tasks.
In addition, the choir maintains its opera repertoire in its own concerts, listens to sacred and secular choral music, but also likes to explore the musical culture of other countries.
