Festival

Besançon Franche-Comté International Music Festival

The 74th edition of the Besançon International Music Festival, as well as the final rounds of the 57th International Competition for Young Conductors, will take place from 10 to 25 September 2021.

Overview

Since 2011, the Romain Vuillemin Quartet has thrilled clubs and revived the rich artistic heritage of Django Reinhardt and the famous Hot Club de France Quintet on the roads of France and Europe. They released 2 albums around the "French" swing, hailed by the press for their musicality and the way in which ardor and sensitivity respond to each other. Here is therefore a quartet of talented young musicians always ready to dust off the airs of pre-war Paris in order to restore them in a more current form, while respecting tradition.

Venue Info

Place Granvelle - Besançon
Location   Place Granvelle

Place Granvelle, also called Granvelle promenade, is a square located in Besançon in the historical district of the Boucle.

The Granvelle is up, originally a private garden Granvelle palace dating from the xvi the century. It was then a pleasure garden planted with rare and simple species and decorated with a water jet and a sundial dating from 1541.

The municipality acquired it in 1712 and opened it to the public in 1728. The architect Claude-Joseph Bertrand rearranged it from 1778, it was then that it became the Granvelle promenade which would later receive a bandstand and several statues.
