Festival

Besançon Franche-Comté International Music Festival

The 74th edition of the Besançon International Music Festival, as well as the final rounds of the 57th International Competition for Young Conductors, will take place from 10 to 25 September 2021.

Programme
Claude Debussy: Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune
Aaron Copland: Appalachian Spring: Suite
Overview

Two notable former candidates of the Besançon Competition have founded their own ensemble, which they lead alternately and sometimes together. But ultimately, what is a conductor for? Inspired by the final rounds of the competition, this commented concert will allow young audiences and families to dive into the heart of a conductor's action through two masterpieces of the 20th century: the famous Debussy prelude, the finest example of impressionist music, and the music of Copland, which illustrates the history of American pioneers in a dancing atmosphere, imbued with the majesty of the great outdoors.
