Festival

Besançon Franche-Comté International Music Festival

The 74th edition of the Besançon International Music Festival, as well as the final rounds of the 57th International Competition for Young Conductors, will take place from 10 to 25 September 2021.

Overview

The Choro is considered the school of Brazilian music par excellence because it brings together all the typical rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic attributes and requires a good knowledge of music and mastery of the instruments. It creates a link between European music and ballroom dances and syncopated African rhythms.
United by the same passion, the group invites you to discover an unknown face of Brazil and takes you on board for a moment of pleasure and relaxation that will delight your mind and give you ants in your legs.
Mixture of the timbres of classical and traditional instruments, elegant and subtle melodies, nonchalance, and swaying rhythms,  Quero Quero Choro also highlights an essential value of Brazilian music: sharing.

Place Granvelle - Besançon
Location   Place Granvelle

Place Granvelle, also called Granvelle promenade, is a square located in Besançon in the historical district of the Boucle.

The Granvelle is up, originally a private garden Granvelle palace dating from the xvi the century. It was then a pleasure garden planted with rare and simple species and decorated with a water jet and a sundial dating from 1541.

The municipality acquired it in 1712 and opened it to the public in 1728. The architect Claude-Joseph Bertrand rearranged it from 1778, it was then that it became the Granvelle promenade which would later receive a bandstand and several statues.
