The 74th edition of the Besançon International Music Festival, as well as the final rounds of the 57th International Competition for Young Conductors, will take place from 10 to 25 September 2021.
For this symphonic reunion, Jean-François Verdier and the Orchester Victor Hugo Franche-Comté offer us to get out of this long night the Evening Reverie by Saint-Saëns, then the Prélude à la nuit by Ravel. The atmosphere will gradually come to life, with a beautiful and rare opening of Saint-Saëns, before taking off, not in the stars, but on three of the famous Planets of Holst.
Finally, as a world premiere, excerpts from a symphony for orchestra with jazz trio, which pays homage to various aspects of Besançon, in particular its working-class past represented by the overalls.
Les Prés-de-Vaux
Les Prés-de-Vaux is a district of Besançon located in the south-east.
From the end of xix th century, the site was chosen for industrial exploitation.
After the industrial crisis of the 1970s, the site was almost completely abandoned.
It is, today, in reconstruction with the creation of the "City of the Arts" which comprises since january 2011a La Rodia musical complex and soon the conservatory.
