About

Born in Moscow, Elena Zaremba made her operatic debut at the Bolshoi Theatre where she sang all the great roles of the Russian repertoire. She is regularly invited to perform at the world’s major opera houses and festivals such as La Scala Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Metropolitan Opera of New York, San Francisco Opera, Washington, Tokyo and Seoul Operas, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Arena in Verona, the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Salzburg, Bregenz, Graz and Edinburgh Festivals, the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Deutsche Oper and the Staatsoper in Berlin, the Staatsoper in Hamburg, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Liceu in Barcelone, the Maestranza in Seville, Bilbao Opera, La Corogne, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra etc. 

She has worked with some of the world’s most illustrious conductors: Carlos Kleiber, Bernard Haitink, Claudio Abbado, James Conlon, Christoph von Dohnányi, Vladimir Jurowski, James Levine, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Michel Plasson, Daniel Oren, Myung‑Whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov, Giuseppe Sinopoli Nello Santi, Fabio Luisi, Maurizio Arena, Luis Antonio Garcia Navarro, Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Michel Plasson, Daniel Oren, Myung‑Whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov and Giuseppe Sinopoli. Apart from the Russian repertoire, she has performed the title role in Carmen, Dalila (Samson and Dalila), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), Azucena (Il Trovatore), Laura (La Gioconda), Mrs Quickly (Falstaff), Fricka (The Ring). At the Paris Opera, you may have heard her as Carmen, Ulrica, Olga (Eugene Onegin), Paulina (The Queen of Spades), Hélène (War and Peace), Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Anna (The Trojans). She also performs regularly in concerts and recitals and has recorded a number of CDs and DVDs.

Forthcoming engagements: Lucia (Cavelleria Rusicana) and Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin) at the Paris Opera.
