About
Stanislav Kochanovsky was born in St. Petersburg. He attended the Glinka Choir School before going on to graduate with honours from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, where he studied choral conducting with Tatiana Khitrova (2004), organ with Nina Oksentyan (2004) and opera-symphonic conducting with Alexander Titov (2008).
With an in-depth knowledge and experience of a wide range of symphonic and operatic repertoire gleaned during his formative years conducting at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg and as a Chief Conductor of the State Safonov Philharmonic Orchestra, Kochanovsky is now receiving attention from orchestras and opera houses around the world.
Highlights of the last seasons included debuts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestre de Paris.
Collaborates with Svetlanov Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the The Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Toulouse, Orchestre National de Lyon, the Stuttgart Radio Symphonieorchester, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra among other ensembles.
In previous seasons Kochanovsky made five opera productions: Pique Dame (Robert Carsen) and Eugene Onegin (Barrie Kosky) at Opernhaus Zurich, Iolanta (Mariusz Trelinski) at Opera Florence, Prince Igor (Dmitry Chernyakov) at National Opera Netherlands and Boris Godunov (Stefano Poda) at Korean National Opera. Stanislav has more than thirty operas in his repertoire.
After his 2017 debut at Verbier Festival with the Eugene Onegin in concert Stanislav Kochanovsky was immediately reinvited for the next summer in 2018, conducting a symphonic programme with Lucas Debargue and Mikhail Pletnev, and the opera Rigoletto in concert. Next summer 2019 Stanislav is coming back to the Verbier Festival for the third time. At the Mariinsky Theatre he conducts the operas Boris Godunov, Eugene Onegin, Iolanta, Tosca and Madama Butterfly.
