Festival

Sounds of the Dolomites 2019

The mountains take center stage in one of the most charming music festivals of Trentino. Sounds of the Dolomites, now at its 25 edition, takes place from June 28 to September 15. International musicians and artists will perform in the outdoors, near huts, refuges, forts and beautiful locations which can be reached on foot along well-marked paths, with shows starting at dawn and ending late at night.

The love for music and for the mountains, for art and nature, all in one festival!

A series of important events with famous Italian and international artists will follow.

Programme
Overview

String instruments without borders where the mountains are the essence

A decidedly international project, it brings together eminent musicians from Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and Great Britain. Beginning with violinist Lorenza Borrani, she trained at the Fiesole Music School and the Florence Conservatory before embarking on a career that has seen her perform as a soloist with some of the world’s foremost orchestras, including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, win prestigious awards and establish in 2007 Spira Mirabilis, the musical laboratory for professional musicians. Swiss musician Ursina Braun also joined the Spira Mirabilis project, having played the cello since the age of 6 and having won awards that include a gold medal at the “Mainardi” competition at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Riikka Repo and Mats Zetterqvist are, instead, from Sweden. Repo, a passionate, sophisticated chamber musician is currently co-principal viola of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Zetterqvist, who joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 1994 as guest leader and was principal second violin from 2009 to 2017, has been a soloist with all the leading orchestras of Sweden. Carla Maria Rodrigues trained at the Yehudi Menuhin School studying both viola and violin and since a young age she has been performing as soloist and chamber musician in London’s main concert halls. She now lives in the USA where she is principal viola of the San Francisco Opera.

Rifugio Antermoia - Val di Fassa
Location   Valon de Antermoa | Mazzin, 38030, Trento, Italy

The Rifugio Antermoia, managed by the Tridentine Alpinists Society, is one of the numerous mountain huts in the Catinaccio group, in the Val di Fassa catchment area. It is located in the Vallone d'Antermoia, a few hundred meters from the lake of the same name, a stopping place on the yellow route of the Via Alpina.

The ancient building that houses the refuge dates back to 1911. A subsequent restoration took place in the 1980s, on the occasion of the opening of the yellow route of the Via Alpina, the refuge was completely renovated. In recent years, photovoltaic panels have been built to contribute to the building's energy needs.
