Sardinian tenor Piero Pretti made his Royal Opera debut in the 2014/15 Season as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) and has since returned to sing Alfredo (La traviata).
Pretti’s roles with La Scala, Milan, have included Rodolfo (Luisa Miller), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ismaele (Nabucco) and the Duke of Mantua. He made his debuts with Bavarian State Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin as the Duke of Mantua. Other engagements include Rodolfo (La bohème), Alfredo Germont (La traviata) and the Duke of Mantua for Vienna State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, and in Beijing, Arrigo (I vespri siciliani) in Madrid, Naples and Turin, Alfredo for La Fenice, Venice, and the Teatro Regio, Turin, Manrico (Il trovatore) for Liceu, Barcelona, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) for Paris Opéra and in Bilbao and Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Hamburg State Opera.
Pretti sings widely in concert, engagements including Rossini’s Stabat Mater on tour in Tokyo and a gala concert in St Petersburg.
