About

Pavel Černoch was born in Brno and began his musical training at an early age, soon becoming part of the Cantilena Choir. He is currently studying under Paolo de Napoli in Italy. He made his professional debut in Brno in The Magic Flute. He has performed at the Prague Opera (Alfredo in La Traviata, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Michelis in The Greeek passion, Jenik in The Bartered Bride), the Riga Opera (Steva in Jenůfa, Alfredo, the Prince in Rusalka), and the Vienna Volksoper (Alfredo and Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Lionel in Martha). 

Since his debut appearance at Munich’s Bayerische Staastsoper in 2009 in the role of Steva in Jenůfa, he has been invited to perform at some of Europe’s most renowned theatres, including Milan’s La Scala, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Staatsoper in Hamburg, the Stuttgart, Cologne, Zurich, and Helsinki Operas, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Paris Opera (The Bartered Bride and Rusalka), the Lyon Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and the Glyndebourne Festival, where he has performed the great roles of the Italian, French and Slav repertoires: Alfredo (La Traviata), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Don Carlo (the title role), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly), Faust (Gounod’s Faust and Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Vaudémont (Iolanta), Lykov (The Tsar’s Bride), Steva and Laca (Jenůfa), Albert Gregor (The Makropoulos Affair), Boris (Kátia Kabanová), the Prince (Rusalka), and Jenik (The Bartered Bride). 
More recently, he sang the title role in Franco Facio’s Amleto at the Bregenz Festival, Albert Gregor at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Don Carlo and Don José (Carmen) at the Hamburg Staatsoper, Vladimir (Prince Igor) at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Faust (La Damnation de Faust) at the Prague Opera, Lensky (Eugene Onegin) at the Paris Opera. Pavel Černoch has also performed in concert at the BBC Proms, and the Festivals in Verbier and Bergen. He has sung under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, Kirill Petrenko, Sir Simon Rattle, Andris Nelsons, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Charles Dutoit, Guennadi Rozhdestvensky, Vassily Sinaisky, Jiři Bělohlávek, Tomáš Hanus, and Jakub Hrůša among others.
