Canadian mezzo-soprano Michèle Losier made her Royal Opera debut in the 2011 as Siébel (Faust) and has since sung Dorabella (Così fan tutte) and Mercédès (Carmen).

Losier studied at McGill University, on Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier Lyrique, at the Juilliard Opera Center and on the Merola Opera Program. She was a winner in the 2005 Metropolitan Opera Auditions, which led to her debut at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, in 2007 as Diane (Iphigénie en Tauride). She has also sung Siébel for the Metropolitan Opera. Her appearances in Baroque and Classical repertory include the title role in Charpentier’s Medée and Phébé (Castor et Pollux) for the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) for San Francisco Opera, Dorabella for Salzburg Festival and Sesto (La clemenza di Tito) for La Monnaie, Brussels, and Vienna State Opera. Losier’s engagements in French 19th-century opera include Charlotte (Werther) for Opéra de Montréal, Nicklause/Muse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) for Liceu, Barcelona, Prince Charmant (Cendrillon) for the Opéra-Comique and in Barcelona, Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette) for Teatro Real, Madrid, and Ascanio (Benvenuto Cellini) for Dutch National Opera.

Losier’s many concert engagements include La Damnation de Faust with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, L’Enfance du Christ with Montréal Symphony Orchestra, Kindertotenlieder in Belgium and Shéhérazade with the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra.
