María José Siri (Canelones, 24 December 1976) is a Uruguayan soprano.

María José Siri studied at the "Esquela Nacional de Arte Lìrico" in Montevideo, where she first studied saxophone and later singing, then perfecting the technique at the Paris conservatory, also using the help of the soprano Ileana Cotrubas near Nice and Vienna.

Considered one of the greatest performers of the works of Verdi, Puccini and verist theater, she began performing in the theaters of her country and of South America, making her debut as Mimì in Puccini's Bohème in 2005 at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Subsequently, after moving to Verona in 2006, he began to make himself known in Italian theaters, playing Leonora in Verdi's Trovatore, in 2008, at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. His name begins to appear in the billboards of the seasons of the most important Italian and European opera houses. She is Aida at the Verona Arena in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Also at the Arena, she plays Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in 2015. At the Teatro Regio in Turin she is Amelia in Simon Boccanegra in 2013, Desdemona in Otello ( Verdi) in 2014, Tosca in 2016 and Manon Lescaut in 2017. In Bologna she is Amelia in Un ballo in maschera (2015) and Odabella in Verdi's Attila in 2016. In Macerata she plays Norma and Madama Butterfly. In Europe he performs in many famous theaters, such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Eugenio Onegin (opera), Tosca (opera)), the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Tosca (opera), Andrea Chénier (opera), Madama Butterfly), the Wiener Staatsoper (Tosca (opera), Andrea Chénier (opera), Il trovatore, Madama Butterfly), the Gran Teatro del Liceu (Mimì in La bohème, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera), the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia (Manon Lescaut, Don Carlo), the Staatsoper Hamburg (Aida).

He debuted with great success in the role of Cio-Cio-San in the Butterfly, inaugurating the 2016/2017 opera season of the Teatro alla Scala, in the original version of the opera in two acts, directed by Maestro Riccardo Chailly with Bryan Hymel, Carlos Álvarez and Annalisa Stroppa. In 2018 he returned to the Teatro alla Scala in the opera Francesca da Rimini by Riccardo Zandonai, in the eponymous role. In 2019 he plays the character of Manon Lescaut in the first version of the opera directed by Riccardo Chailly and staged by David Pountney.

In 2017 she was awarded the "Stella della Lirica" ​​award.
