Lucas Jussen was born in 1993. He began his musical journey under the tutelage of Leni Bettman in Hilversum. By 2001, Jussen had advanced to the finals of the Rotterdam Piano Festival-Competition.
On November 24, 2006, at age thirteen, Lucas performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 10 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Two years later, on November 30, 2009, he dazzled with Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos, again with the same orchestra, now under Michael Schoenwandt's baton. In March 2010, Lucas signed a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, capturing concerts by Mozart and Poulenc, along with other duet and solo works.
After two years of study with Menachem Pressler in the United States, beginning in October 2013, Lucas shifted his focus to the Reina Sofia Music School in Madrid, where he honed his craft under Dmitry Bashkirov. He remains a valued member of the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. Lucas's musical journey also includes studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Jan Wein, where he further refined his skills.
Lucas has performed with almost all Dutch orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Netherlands Radio Orchestra and many others. He has played with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Scottish BBC Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the symphony orchestras of Iceland, Dallas, Shanghai, Sydney, Hong Kong, Leipzig and Salzburg. He participated in various European festivals and gave concerts in the most prestigious halls of the world.
