GIAMPAOLO MARIA BISANTI was born in Milan and studied conducting, clarinet, piano and composition at the Verdi Conservatoire in his hometown. Since the start of his career he has performed regularly at Italy’s major opera houses, (e.g. Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa).
Similarly, his first international engagements took him to Seoul, Vilnius, Stockholm, Tel Aviv and Strasbourg. In 2015/2016 he conducted, amongst others, a new production of La Bohème at the Zurich Opera, gave his debut performance at the Semperoper, Rigoletto at the German Opera, Berlin, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon and a new production of Norma in St. Gallen. In 2016/2017 his season opening at the Teatro Liceu of Macbeth was a great success, he conducted Anna Bolena in Lisbon, La Bohème in Zurich as well as La Bohème und Carmen in Dresden. We expect further debuts in Lausanne, Lüttich and Orange during the 2017/2018 season as well as reappearances at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Lisbon and a premiere of Lucia in Dresden.
