About
American lighting designer Felice Ross makes her Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season on From the House of the Dead.
Ross grew up and studied in the USA and now lives in Israel. She has designed lighting for dance, theatre and opera. Her opera lighting designs for Krzysztof Warlikowski include Macbeth, Lulu and Don Giovanni (La Monnaie, Brussels), Die Frau ohne Schatten, Die Gezeichneten and Eugene Onegin (Bavarian State Opera), The Rake's Progress (Berlin State Opera), Wozzeck (Dutch National Opera), Alceste (Teatro Real, Madrid), Don Carlos, Parsifal, Iphigénie en Tauride, The Makropulos Affair, Duke Bluebeard's Castle and La Voix humaine (Paris Opéra) and Handel's Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno (Aix-en-Provence Festival). Further opera credits include Manon Lescaut (Polish National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Savonlinna Opera Festival), Boulevard Solitude (Welsh National Opera), Der fliegende Holländer, Eugene Onegin, Powder Her Face and Ubu Rex (Polish National Opera), La traviata (Savonlinna Opera Festival), Macbeth (Third World Bunfight, Cape Town), Andrea Chénier (Washington National Opera and credits for Israeli Opera.
Ross has lit many theatre productions for Warlikowski including The Dybbuk, Kabaret Warszawski, The African Tales by Shakespeare, (A)pollonia, The Tramway and Cleansed. She has worked prolifically in Poland and Israel and for theatres including Théâtre de l'Odéon, Paris, Schaubühne, Berlin, Hannover Schauspielhaus and Athens's Poreia Theatre.
