About
Lyrical revelation to the victories of classical music 2015 (category lyrical revelation), Cyrille Dubois has always been an insatiable artist of discovery of new repertoire. He discovers the singing during his childhood in the classes schedules furnished to the Master of Caen (ceo Robert Weddle). Thanks to the weekly auditions, during these years he tackles a wide sacred and profane repertoire. As a soloist he was able to take part in many projects such as the Pie Jesu Des requiem by Fauré, Duruflé, or Andrew Llyod Weber, the Chichester Psalms by Bernstein (direction Valérie Fayet) or the Tour d'ecrou (Miles) by Britten at the Opera de Lyon and Chambéry.
A few years later, he became a tenor at the CNSM in Paris (Class of Alain Buet). But Cyril's great passion lay in the Lied and the melody of which he was a sought-after emissary. It is in contact with Anne Le Bozec and Jeff Cohen with whom he performs in recital, that he discovers this repertoire. Together with pianist Tristan Raës, he formed the duo Contraste. Meetings with such great performers enabled them to deepen and broaden their repertoire, notably with a masterclass with Helmut Deutsch for the Lieder or meetings with François Le Roux for the melody. Their eclecticism finds no limit ! Contest winners, Baker and triple winners of the chamber music competition of Lyon (including 1st prize and public prize), they are therefore invited on numerous occasions to defend the repertoire of French song around the globe (Palazetto Bru-Zane in Venice, Opéra de Paris, Festival of St Petersburg, the Musée Claude Debussy, the Army Museum at the Invalides, Whigmore Hall in London and in Moscow...), and become champion of the defence of this directory. Cyril was also able to give recitals with Michel Dalberto, Nicolas Stavy or more recently a recital on Britten's Canticles at the Amphitheatre Bastille.
After his years at the CNSM, he joined the prestigious Lyric workshop of the Paris Opera, which gave him his first opportunities to perform : Sam Kaplan in Kurt Weil's “Street Scene”, Gonzalve in Ravel's “L'heure Espagnole”, “la Resurezzi” in handle (Saint Jean) (direction Paul Agnew) and “La Finta Giardiniera” by Mozart (Il Contino Belfiore).
Outside the workshop he was also able to play other roles such as:” the Magic Flute "by Mozart (Tamino-gunman),” Gianni Schicchi “(Rinuccio – Gherardo) by Puccini, or” the rape of Lucrezia “by Britten (Male Chorus),” The Wedding Of Figaro" (Don Curzio) by Mozart. Or following the 21st International Song Contest of Clermont Ferrand which gives him the possibility to sing, the role of Edoardo in” La Cambiale di matrimonial " of Rossini in many French halls. Also, he was able to meet with Janine Reiss, Lady Ann Muray and Nathalie Dessay during masterclass.
His early career took him to the biggest theatres in France and Europe : La Scala in Milan and the Paris Opera in "Les Contes d'hoffmann" (Nathanaël), La Monnaie in Brussels at the beginning of 2013 in a contemporary creation by Benoît Mernier: "La Dispute" or at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées where he performed a short-lived replacement of the tale Almaviva in "Le Barbier de Seville" by Rossini. He also sang his first Ferrando in Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutte" with Opera Fuoco and Brighella in Strauss's "Ariadne à Naxos" with the ensemble Le Balconie at the théâtre de l'athénée. In 2014, he performed Gérald in Lakmé at the Opera Théâtre de Saint Etienne, for which he was considered one of the hopes of French singing (award-winning musical revelation 2014 by the syndicat des critiques musicales). He was also noticed in the 4 valets of "Contes d'hoffmann" at the Opera de Lyon, he also took over the role of Brighella (Paris Opera) coupled with that of Tanzmeister at the Opera de Toulon and made his debut at Garnier (Paris Opera) with the role of Oronte in Alcina De Haendel directed by Christophe Rousset. Last season, he was selected by the Centre Français de promotion Lyrique to interpret the young first (Coelio) in "The Caprices of Marianne" of Henri Sauguet in many rooms of province, it was also Paris alongside Karine Deshayes at the Toulon Opera (la Belle Hélène, Offenbach) and then participated in the creation at the Paris Opéra du Roi Arthus (Chausson) (with Roberto Alagna, Thomas Hampson). He also made his debut as Gonzalve (Spanish time, Ravel) at the Glyndebourne Festival (GB). He was also able to participate in the show "the Music Box" by Jean-François Zygel on France 2.
But faithful to the amateur and choral world that saw him grow up (in the small coastal commune of Ouistreham Riva-Bella) he never forgets to transmit his passion, as often as he can, in the channel where he now lives.
On the record, in addition to the recordings he made as a child with the mastery of Caen (notably Les petits motets De Brossard, hailed by international critics), he was the guest of Radio France for the recording of “Tistou Les pouches verts” by Sauguet and of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles for “Renaud” by Sacchini with the Lyric Talens, and the caravan of Cairo (Grétry) with the Agrémens, or the Paradise Lost by Théodore Dubois and the missa Sacra with the Cris de Paris (direction Geoffroi Jourdain), or the Desert of Félicien David with Accentus (direction Laurence Equilbey), The works of the prix de Rome Dukas with the orchestra of the Belgian radio (in the direction of Hervé Niquet) (forthcoming).
Among his projects : the Gift Narcison (Turco in Italia, Rossini) in Metz ; Marzio (Mitridate, Mozart) at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and Dijon, Belmonte (Entführung auf dem Serail, Mozart) at the Opéra de Lyon, the Illuminations of Rimbaud's work of Britten with the Orchestra of Normandy. He will also sponsor the European opera day at the théâtre de Caen in May 2016…
