About

Christina Gansch (born 1990 in St. Pölten) is an Austrian opera singer in the vocal section soprano.

Gansch studied during her schooldays at the Conservatory for Church Music of the Diocese of St. Pölten, went to the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2008, graduated there in 2012 with distinction and then won several awards. She attended masterclasses with Michèle Crider, Edita Gruberová, Angelika Kirchschlager and Thomas Moser and eventually continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Her international opera debut was in September 2013 as Amor in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Opera of Montpellier.  This was followed by appearances at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, at the Resonanzen Festival in Vienna and at the Wigmore Hall in London. In March 2013 she sang in the Theater an der Wien - as part of the concertante Da Ponte cycle with the Concentus Musicus Wien under Nikolaus Harnoncourt - the Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. The reviews were uniformly benevolent, the standard praised "in addition to comedic potential a voice that predestined them for larger games."

From 2014 to 2016 she was a member of the international opera studio at the Hamburg State Opera and, in the season 2016/2017, a member of the ensemble at this house. a. the Pamina in the Magic Flute, the Constance in Dialogues of Carmélites, the Almira in the opera of the same name and the Gemmy in Guillaume Tell sang.

In the summer of 2015, she was part of the Salzburg Festival's Young Singers Project and took over the role of Barbarina in Sven-Eric Bechtolf's new production of Le nozze di Figaro. In 2017, she will once again appear at the Salzburg Festival, this time as Servilia in La clemenza di Tito.
