Brian Jagdy was born on August 21, 1979, in Long Island, New York. He grew up in Rockland County, New York, and now lives in New York City. 

Jagde has performed several roles for San Francisco Opera, including Radames (Aida), Don José, Calaf (Turandot), Pinkerton and Cavaradossi (Tosca), and was also a member of the company’s Adler and Merola programmes. He made his European debut in 2013 as Werther in Póznan. Engagements since have included Don José and Cavaradossi for Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, Bavarian State Opera and Arena di Verona, Don José, Der Fremde (Das Wunder der Heliane) and Cavaradossi for Deutsche Oper Berlin, Prince (Rusalka) for Houston Grand Opera, Radames for Seattle Opera, Ismaele (Nabucco) for Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Minnesota Opera and Palm Beach Opera, Count Elemer (Arabella) for the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Rodolfo (La bohème) in Munich and Mexico City and his debut solo recital in Davis, California.

Jagde’s many awards include second prize and the Birgit Nilsson Wagner/Strauss Prize at Operalia (2012) and first prize at the 2014 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition (2014). He is a passionate advocate for arts education in schools.
