Overview

This program will transport you between popular tradition, romantic heritage, and French modernity.

Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances illustrate Hungary's quest for independence through folk music collected in Transylvania in 1907. Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony, written after his stay in Italy, evokes a luminous and joyful Italy. Finally, Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos, born in Paris in the 1930s, reflects the neoclassical vitality and cultural effervescence of the interwar period. It will be performed by the phenomenal duo, the Labèque sisters. Enjoy your trip!
