Vienna City Hall

Vienna City Hall is the seat of local government of Vienna, located on Rathausplatz in the Innere Stadt district. Constructed from 1872 to 1883 in a Neo-Gothic style according to plans designed by Friedrich von Schmidt. A real showpiece is the town hall's ballroom, which was restored in 1999 and now shines again in the splendor of 1883.

Friedrich Schmidt planned this hall down to the smallest detail. With great craftsmanship, special value was placed on the restoration true to the original.

There are 71 meters between the two orchestral niches on the front sides. The 20 meter wide and 18.5 meter high hall is lined on three sides by a gallery. The fourth side opens onto the town hall square via a loggia.
There are many festive occasions, and the events in the ballroom are just as varied. Here, for example, the city's representation events, honors, receptions, lectures such as the Vienna Lectures , exhibitions such as the Book Week, symposia, concerts such as Christmas in Vienna , balls or clubbing take place.
