The Spanish-American soprano Vanessa Goikoetxea is the winner of the Deborah Voigt/Vero Beach Opera Foundation Prize at Marcello Giordani Competition in the United States of America.
During the last seasons her engagements include her debut as Hanna Glawari in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe at the Semperoper Dresden under Alexander Joel and at Martina Franca’s “Festival della Valle d’Itria” in Italy as Armilla in Casella’s La Donna Serpente under Maestro Fabio Luisi giving her Italian debut. She sang with big success at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the main role of Catalina, where she returns to sing Boccherini’s “La Clementina” under the conduction of maestro Andrea Marcon.
She also took part in Matsumoto’s “Saito Kinen Festival” in Japan, singing Alice Ford from Verdi’s Falstaff. She returned to Semperoper Dresden to be heard as Bystrouška (Vixen) in Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen under Tomas Netopil, but also as Musetta and Alcina under Rainer Mühlbach and Riccardo Frizza’s baton. At Teatro Massimo in Palermo, she’s performing one of the masterpieces from Hans Werner Henze, “Gisela!”, singing the main role and debuting at the inauguration of the season with great success.
Vanessa returned again to the Semperoper Dresden for the premiere of Henze’s We come to the river, singing the role of Junge Frau under the baton of Erik Nielsen. She was also heard as Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme under Pier Giorgio Morandi, as Alcina in Händel’s Alcina under Rainer Mühlbach and Rachel in Halevy’s La Juive under the baton of Tomas Netopil. She made her debut at Auditorio Nacional in Madrid as Valencienne in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe under Josep Pons and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona as First Wood Sprite in Dvorák’s Rusalka under Andrew Davis.
Vanessa Goikoetxea made her debuts at Teatro Perez Galdós in Gran Canaria as the First Niece in Britten’s Peter Grimes under Pedro Hallfter, at the Prinzregententheater Munich as Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme under Ulf Schirmer and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. She has also debuted at the Semperoper Dresden as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (cover), Prinzessin in Toch’s Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse under Prof. Ekkehard Klemm, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen under Patrick Fourniller, Damigella in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea under Ruben Duvrosky and First Wood Sprite in Dvorak’s Rusalka under Tomas Netopil, but also at Kursaal Theater San Sebastián and Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo del Escorial as First Lady under Jaime Martin.
This year she made her debut as Donna Anna at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and also sang the role of Valencienne jumping in for a concert version where she has been sucessfully acclaimed by the critics. She has been invited by Erik Nielsen in Bilbao to sing a world premiere piece called “Zeru urdinetik” and Brahms’s “Ein Deutsches Requiem”.
Increasingly in demand on the concert platform, Vanessa’s recent engagements include Haydn’s Missa de Sancti Leopoldi and Visperae en Fa, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem under Josep Caballe and the Basque National Orchestra, Mendelsson’s Lobgesang, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Mozart Arias Concert with the Basque Symphony Orchestra under Lorenz Nasturica. She’s debuting under the conduction of Lionel Bruguiner the 2nd. Symphony of Mahler at Auditorio Miguel Delibes in Valladolid, Spain. Vanessa Goikoetxea has performed extensively in concert and song recital. She has appeared on radio and has been filmed for television on many occasions.

Some highlights of her next engagements is her debut in Czardasfürstin singing the main role at the Staatsoperette of Dresden. She gives her debut in the United States of America singing Micaela at Seattle Opera. She’s returning to sing Hanna Glawari in Die Lustige Witwe also at the Staatsoperette of Dresden and she’ll give her debut in München with the Munich Symphonie Orchestra singing Zoltán Kodálys “Budavári Te Deum”.
