Martha Argerich electrifies around the globe with her volcanic temperament, her fiery intensity and phenomenal insight. It can certainly be described as a sensation that this exceptional pianist is now playing in Vaduz again after two years. Artists of her rank can choose any time and place anywhere in the world, but Argerich enjoys playing in Vaduz, she loves the local audience and the music-loving atmosphere in the Vaduz Hall.
Born in Buenos Aires as the daughter of Russian immigrants and educated in Vienna by Friedrich Gulda, the multilingual Martha Argerich has lived in Switzerland for many years.
The Swiss conductor Charles Dutoit and Martha Argerich are an extraordinarily well-coordinated team; they make music with one heart and one soul. They were even married once and have a daughter together. The polyglot and highly educated Dutoit worked for many years in Montreal, Canada, and revolutionized classical music life there. He created new types of concerts and was able to get young people excited about classical music. In 1987 he was voted “Artist of the Year” in Canada.
Therefore, Dutoit also decided to work with the top young orchestra EPOS, which was founded in 2015 by members of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. The members of the orchestra hold academy positions in top orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
