About
Born in Barcelona in 1979, Tomàs Grau studied music at the Superior Conservatory of Music in his own city, where he achieved the Professor of Choir Conducting Degree, and was rewarded with the Honorary Award in 2003. He continued his conducting studies at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia, where he graduated in Orchestral Conducting, with top ratings in 2007. His Orchestral Conducting studies were completed in the 2006 and 2007 Wiener Meisterkurse editions.
Tomàs has studied under internationally recognized teachers like Salvador Mas Conde, Jordi Mora, Pierre Cao, Gary Graden, and José Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana.
He has conducted several international soloists, including Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sabine Meyer, Stephen Kovacevich, Alexander Melnikov, Steven Isserlis, Alice Sara Ott, Sayaka Shoji, Albrecht Mayer, Asier Polo, Pablo Ferrández, Judith Jáuregui, Núria Rial, Àngel Òdena, Claudi Arimany and Albert Guinovart, in the main concert halls of Spain and Europe.
In 2011, while he was the “Cobla Sant Jordi – City of Barcelona” conductor, he was awarded the Barcelona City Music Prize..
Nowadays, Tomàs is the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Camera Musicae Symphony Orchestra in Tarragona, and he is often invited to conduct other orchestras, such as the Andorra National Orchestra, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia Orchestra, Vigo 430 Symphony Orchestra, Clásica Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Academia Galamian Orchestra, Camerata Eduard Toldrà, Vic Chamber Orchestra, Vila-seca Chamber Orchestra and Cervera Chamber Orchestra, among others.
Among his immediate commitments, he will be conducting soloists like Leticia Moreno, Seong-Jin Cho, Esther Yoo, Kian Soltani, Ainhoa Arteta, Jesús Reina and Josu de Solaun.
