Programme
Claude Debussy: Six Épigraphes antiques
Maurice Ravel: Ma Mère l'Oye (Mother Goose)
Philip Glass: Les enfants terribles - Arr. for Piano duet by Michael Riesman
Overview

An insatiable curiosity, a flawless virtuosity, united in the same breath, Katia and Marielle Labèque sublimate their fusional passion for the piano. In the first part of this exceptional concert in Vesoul, Ravel's dreamlike and enchanting Mère l'Oye will succeed  Debussy's intimate Épigraphes Antiques. During the 1990s, Philip Glass composed operas based on Cocteau's cinema, including Les Enfants terribles(1996) who in 2020 knows a version adapted for the Labèque sisters by Michael Riesman, official arranger of Philip Glass. This score, emblematic of minimalist music, remaining one of the composer's most accomplished, takes the listener in a whirlwind of emotions and passions, from melancholy to the tragic.
