Programme
Overview
Join The Night Shift for an evening of baroque lullabies and hypnotic dreamscapes curated by violinist Kinga Ujszászi. Sleep-themed works by Monteverdi, Biber, Handel and others unfold under Italo Calvino’s visionary lens, blending operatic expression with chamber intimacy.Rooted in the spirit of Italo Calvino’s playful imagination, The Night Shift transports you into a nocturnal tapestry of sound. Violinist Kinga Ujszászi curates a program of sleep-themed baroque works—Monteverdi’s tender lullabies, Biber’s hypnotic ground basses, Merula and Mealli’s mysterious nocturnes, and Handel’s soaring arias—that reveal fresh dimensions in each melody. A blend of vocal and instrumental forces weaves operatic expression with chamber intimacy, guiding the listener from whispered murmurs to moments of quiet revelation. Familiar baroque textures are illuminated anew, inviting you to wander through dreamlike passages between notes. As twilight deepens, this evening of stargazing and magical dreamscapes promises an immersive journey where story and sound entwine.
