Overview

Artistic expression is part of human nature. It exists since we exist. And, therefore, it is the result of a process of natural evolution and, also, of the evolution of each one of us.

Music and dance are a kind of universal language, a way of expressing and transmitting emotions and feelings. And flamenco is its most significant expression in Andalusia, its deepest root. A cultural manifestation of an entire town, born from its own roots and fed by its intrinsic and unique history. Flamenco participates in this internal hubbub, caused by the experiences that are treasured and which forge us as individuals of a single species. That is why it excites, that is why it awakens emotions: because nobody is alien to sentimentality. Touch the bowels of those who approach, move and move in a direct way, without shrillness. You don't need them. It's natural.

All this is shown in Naturalmente flamenco , a show that is also a sincere and authentic way of showing this art, a world heritage site. It is the result of combining the illusion, knowledge and outstanding sensitivity of the cast that forms the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet, professionals who live passionate about flamenco and who have a lot to tell about this art. With the choreographic collaboration of Rubén Olmo - former director of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet, National Dance Award and Director of the National Dance Ballet since 2019 - and the artistic direction of Úrsula López, the process of continuous training of the Flamenco Ballet is evident in this proposal. from Andalusia.

At this point in history, flamenco dance is part of nature and life itself, with no more reins than the discipline that should teach its creators to be simply natural. Thus, the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet naturally seeks freedom.

Venue Info

Teatros del Canal - Madrid
Location   Calle de Cea Bermúdez, 1

The  Canal Theaters  are located in a modern building of 35,000 square meters, with three theaters open to the public (Red Room, Green Room and Black Room) and the Canal Dance Center . The program covers the most  diverse genres and artistic modalities such  as  theater, dance, music, opera, flamenco, circus ...  Also, the Canal Theaters host festivals that the Community of Madrid periodically organizes, such as the  Autumn to Spring Festival, Madrid in Dance , Theatrical, Suma Flamenca and Sacred Art.

Madrid is the Spanish city with the most theaters and one of the reference centers in the entertainment industry. However, there are not many spaces modern and technologically capable enough to accommodate from the simplest montages to the most complex artistic productions. With the intention of satisfying the need for an elite space in a city of progressive reference in Europe, the Community of Madrid promoted the construction of the Canal Theaters.

The building received the Architecture Prize of the Spanish Biennale, awarded by the Ministry of Development. The jury noted that this building combines "architectural and urban excellence, cultural and poetic content of space." The work is a clear example of integration of an avant-garde public building.

This modern building, located in the Chamberí neighborhood, at the confluence of Cea Bermúdez and Bravo Murillo streets, is the work of the architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg. It was officially opened on February 20, 2009. All its spaces are equipped with the most modern technology, which allows great flexibility to adapt to any stage proposal. Currently, the Canal Theaters are one of the most representative centers in the world of the performing arts.

Among the objectives that were set from the beginning for this great artistic complex are to offer the public "an enormous variety of styles and content with a single common requirement: the technical and artistic quality of the products presented."
