Avenida Calle 170 No. 67-51Teatro Mayor has a seating capacity of 1,303 and was built in order to offer all kinds of opera and musical shows, concerts, classical ballet, contemporary dance and plays.
The theater has three levels: stall, first balcony and second balcony. All three seating areas were especially designed so that audiences could enjoy performances with an excellent view and sound reception.
Teatro Mayor was conceived not only as a comfortable space for audiences, but also as a comfortable space for artists. The theater has five dressing rooms and a special room that works as a rehearsal space.
It has an Orchestra Pit (7.70 x 20.40 meters) with a capacity of 45 musicians and two mobile platforms that allow it to go up and down when needed. The Fly system or theatrical rigging system, has 49 bars used to raise and lower lights, stage sets and curtains and 2 lighting bridges.
Teatro Mayor has ten properly marked emergency exits, located as described below:
Stall: four exits located on the left and right sides
First balcony: two exits located on the left and right sides
Second balcony: four exits located on the left and right sides
