The "Szene Salzburg" is an association and since 1971 the organizer of an annual international dance and theater festival in the city of Salzburg.

In addition to the presentation of this festival, mostly in the months of June and July, she works as an international producer and offers residences for domestic and foreign artists. In 1999, the scene founded the European Union-supported European Network app (advancing performing arts project) to support young artists in the field of the performing arts.

Under the name "republic", it runs a theater for up to 700 spectators in the center of Salzburg, which serves as a venue for local and national organizers in addition to the scene.

The first permanent venue in the 1970s was the Petersbrunnhof, a former stable building adapted as a theater, which has since become the stage of the Schauspielhaus Salzburg. Since 1987, the scene Salzburg is located in the former Stadtkino, which opened in 1950 as the first Cinemascope-Lichtspieltheater Salzburg and 1984 was closed. In addition, the scene also used other venues as well as the public space for their productions, including the former saline area in Hallein, which today is the fixed location of the Salzburg Festival as Pernerinsel.
