Beethovenfest Bonn 2019
‘Moonlight’: thus the motto of the 2019 Beethovenfest. What looks at first like a wry allusion to the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ turns out to be fruitful terrain for this year’s programme.
Alexej Gerassimez and his percussion group will take the audience on a voyage of discovery through a wide range of stylistic cultures and reveal the origins of sounds and rhythms from our everyday surroundings. They even coax sounds out of bottles and screw propellers. As Gerassimez himself puts it: ‘My compositions are noteworthy not only for exploring the possibilities of rhythm, but also for creating idiosyncratic sounds and gleefully crossing borders’.
