Overview

The recipient of countless awards and laurels, Dorothee Oberlinger has opened up previously unimagined realms of expression for the ‘humble’ recorder. Here she presents a selection from her current repertoire, accompanied by the baroque ensemble Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca. Vivaldi is represented by his famous concerto ‘La notte’. An expert in early music, Oberlinger also delves into less familiar terrain, including two nocturnes by the blind flute virtuoso Jacob van Eyck and a serenade with ‘Watchman’s Song’ by the Salzburg court chapel-master Heinrich Biber. Rounding off the programme is a modern jazz standard that has given its name to the entire recital: Thelonious Monk’s ‘Round midnight’.
