Festival

Beethovenfest Bonn 2019

‘Moonlight’: thus the motto of the 2019 Beethovenfest. What looks at first like a wry allusion to the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ turns out to be fruitful terrain for this year’s programme.

Programme
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: First movement from Serenade no. 13 in G major, KV 525 ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’) (1787)
Francis Poulenc: Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant
Camille Saint-Saëns: Carnival of the Animals
Max Bruch: Serenade on Swedish Folk Melodies in C minor, op. posth. (1903)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Third movement from String Quartet no. 16 in F major, op. 135 (1826)
Peter Warlock: Capriol Suite
Dmitri Shostakovich: Chamber Symphony in C minor (arr. Rudolf Barshai), Op.110a
Overview

The German String Philharmonic will offer a broad and entertaining panorama on its little tour through the Rhine-Sieg district. Mozart’s legendary ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ will rub shoulders with Max Bruch’s posthumous ‘Serenade’; and the exhilarating ‘Capriol Suite’ (1926) by the British composer Peter Warlock, based on 16th-century dances, will be joined by the slow set of variations from Beethoven’s final string quartet, headed ‘Sweet quiet song or hymn of peace’ on a page of sketches. And finally the popular orchestral version of Shostakovich’s Eighth String Quartet, one of the most personal and harrowing works by this Russian composer.

Stadthalle Troisdorf - Troisdorf
Location   Kölner Straße 167

The Stadthalle Troisdorf is a 2014 completed event hall with 1500 seats in Troisdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The city hall is operated by the Troisdorf city administration. The hall can be used flexibly as several event rooms are available. The hall was planned for trade fair events, meetings, congresses, concerts, seminars, theater performances, and cabaret events.

The construction of the hall was barrier-free so that the hall can also be visited by people with disabilities and the infirm. Alternative seating options enable different event concepts. Events for 15 to 1500 people as well as the integration of an outdoor area (including a covered outdoor stage) are possible.
