Overview

The unique Mozart experience in Salzburg. A concert with Mozart´s most beautiful compositions - when art meets culinary delights.

By visiting this performance you will be taken back to Mozart’s time.
Enjoy an evening likely to have taken place in 1790 - in the Baroque Hall lit by candles, having a dinner based on historical recipes, listening to a concert with musicians in authentic costumes and the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The musical program of the Mozart Dinner Concert is performed in three parts before and in between the courses of the dinner. Each part is dedicated to a famous Mozart opera: Enjoy arias and duetts from "The Magic Flute", "Don Giovanni" and "The Marriage of Figaro" as well as the very famous first movement of "A Little Night Music".

Experience a lively and first-class performance by the Amadeus Consort Salzburg, consisting of two opera-singers and an exquisite chamber ensemble, all dressed in authentic Rokoko costumes.

Why should Mozart just sound "historical"?

The AMADEUS CONSORT SALZBURG now overrides this abyss. The group plays on original instruments and in appropriate period clothing. What has been a "no go" for almost decades is now a sign for a new, fresh and free interaction with the audience and Mozart's music. The audience becomes participants because the musicians and actors display intelligent and wise interpretation of our spirited and vivid "opera-like" performances. Our musicians have profound knowledge about historical instruments and their treatment. This is what makes the concerts of the AMADEUS CONSORT SALZBURG so special and remarkable! The members of the ACS graduated from the University Mozarteum Salzburg. The ensemble has performed concerts all over the world and was part of TV productions for more than 50 broadcasting stations. Their CD has been sold more than 40.000 times and can be purchased at the venue.

The original Mozart Dinner - based on historical recipes.

In his letters and operas, Mozart makes numerous references to meals and drinks, which gives us a good reason to combine his divine music with culinary delights. Surely, Mozart wouldn't oppose. Our unique Mozart Dinner is inspired from historical recipes. Each course of the dinner is served in the concert intermissions at the same venue as the concert.

♦ Bread with homemade butter
♦ Clear lemon chicken soup with a curd cheese and rosemary dumpling
♦ Supreme of roasted capon* on glaze of red wine and herbs with creamy white polenta and vegetables from Padre Prior's garden
♦ Semi-frozen parfait of wild honey with two fruit sauces

*Back in Mozart’s time capon referred to a castrated rooster. Today we serve you the best meat from Austrian corn-fed chicken,
as it is very similar in quality and taste to the baroque original.

The vegetarian, vegan or allergy-free alternatives vary seasonally. Please let us know about your wishes in advance ("your message to us" when booking your tickets).
We will try to implement your wishes as best as possible. Please note that special requests may take longer.

Drinks are not included.

Seasonal changes are possible.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. We kindly ask you to arrive not later than 7.15 pm to guarantee a good service. The evening starts with the first course at 7.30 pm, followed by the first music part at approx. 8.00 pm, followed by the main course and so on. Late seating is possible only during intermissions.

St. Peter Stiftskulinarium - Salzburg
Location   Sankt-Peter-Bezirk 1/4

St. Peter Stiftskulinarium (until 2017 Stiftskeller St. Peter) is a restaurant within the walls of St Peter's Abbey in Salzburg, Austria. It is claimed to be the oldest inn in Central Europe because of a supposed mention of it in the Carmina anthology by the English scholar Alcuin of York, issued in 803 AD when he served Emperor Charlemagne and Bishop Arno of Salzburg. The former guesthouse of the Benedictine monks was also mentioned by the Monk of Salzburg in the 14th century.

Based on these and other claims, the Stiftskulinarium is perhaps the oldest existing restaurant in the world, and likely the oldest in Europe. Christopher Columbus, Johann Georg Faust, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are said to have been served at the restaurant.

The Baroque Hall - with its stucco and frescoes - is a magnificent showpiece. St. Peter is part of the famous Benedictine monastery and is located in the oldest part of Salzburg. The Baroque Hall is one of the last concert halls in Salzburg where real candle light is still permitted. St. Peter Stiftskulinarium itself is the oldest restaurant in Europe first mentioned in 803. Even the Mozart family ate dinner here. In October 1783, Mozart´s sister "Nannerl" wrote in her diary: “Papa and Henry had lunch at St. Peter... made music ... rained heavily“. Composer Michael Haydn lived and performed music in the "Haydn Room".
