It opens with Rosseter's elegant partsong - a direct echo of Shakespeare's era - then moves to Jeremy White's evocative treatment of Ben Jonson's A Witches' Brew and Armstrong Gibbs' spirited setting of Queen Elizabeth I's verse. A deeply moving performance of Brahms' Come away, Death follows, before the programme concludes with vibrant 20th-century choral works by Imogen Holst and Peter Warlock rooted in texts from The Tempest and other historic sources. Each piece unfolds in lush harmonies that celebrate the enduring bond between word and melody. Admission is free, with a retiring collection to support the performers.
