The American tenor Matthew Newlin is currently part of the troupe of the Berlin Deutsche Oper, where he has notably sung Tamino (The Magic Flute), Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville), the Italian singer (The Knight in the Rose), Pong (Turandot), Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor).
Last season, he debuted with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (Pulcinella, Fidelio) and sang excerpts from Così fan tutte at the Basel Theater. In 2014, he played the role of the Count of Belprato in Antonio Cagnoni's Don Bucefalo at the Wexford Festival and the role of Jiři in Dvořák's The Jacobin at the Buxton Festival.
During the 2012/2013 season, he was in residence at the Young Artists Studio of the Florida Grand Opera, with which he participated in the productions of The Magic Flute (Erste Geharnischter) and The Somnambulist (The Notary), for which he also doubles roles of Tamino and Elvino.
Previously, we heard her at the Santa Fe Opera in Mahometto II by Rossini and Silent Night by Kevin Puts. Matthew Newlin also performs in concert under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas (Pulcinella of Stravinsky), with the Millennium Chamber Players (Mozart's Requiem), Park Ridge Presbyterian Church, the Apollo Chorus at the Chicago Symphony Center (The Messiah of Handel). He has won numerous international competitions, including the Opera Prize of the 's-Hertogenbosch competition in 2014.
