French tenor Jean-François Borras made his Royal Opera debut in 2012 as Raimbaut (Robert le diable) and has since returned to sing Ismaele (Nabucco).
Borras studied at the Académie de Musique Rainier III de Monaco and with Michèle Command and Gabriel Bacquier. Engagements include Chevalier des Grieux (Manon) for Vienna State Opera, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and Opéra-Bastille, Alfredo Germont (La traviata) in Monte Carlo and Tel Aviv, the title role of Werther for Metropolitan Opera, New York, Greek National Opera and Vienna State Opera, Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) with the Orchestra Nazionale dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) in Trieste, Genoa and Verona, Rodolfo (La bohème) for the Metropolitan Opera and in Verona, Trieste and Graz, Macduff (Macbeth) and Cinna (La vestale) for Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) for Rome Opera and in Tel Aviv, Gérald (Lakmé) in Toulon, Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) in Metz, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) for Teatro Massimo, Palermo, and Nicias (Thaïs) in São Paulo.
Borras has performed widely in concert and recital in France and elsewhere. Engagements include Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette with Les Siècles at the Paris Philharmonie and Verdi’s Requiem with Minnesota Orchestra.
