Styriarte Festival 2023

The Styriarte 2023 will take place from June 23 to July 23, 2023. Based on Fux's baroque opera "Costanza e Fortezza" from 1723, i.e. exactly 300 years after its premiere in Prague, the Styriarte 2023 will place its programme under the motto "Heroes".

The French national saint „Jeanne la Pucelle“ (Joan the Virgin) in a great sound panorama by Jordi Savall. With music of the 15th century from Guillaume Dufay, Johannes Vincenet, Josquin Desprez a. o.

She came from nowhere, spoke of God and roused the French from their state of despair: Jeanne la Pucelle, the Maid of Orleans, remains an enigma to this day. Not much more than a child, how did she manage to succeed where all men had lost all hope? Who betrayed her to the English and why? Jordi Savall reveals the secrets of her life in his musical panorama from time of the Hundred Years War, the backdrop of which was the Europeans’ eternal longing for peace and the longing of the Middle Ages for God.

The Helmut List Halle is a masterpiece of modern architecture, built on the steel constructions of a 20th century former industrial hall.

The hall was named after Prof. Dr. h.c. Helmut List who financed the construction of the hall and is chairman and CEO of AVL List GmbH, an internationally renowned company in the engine and automotive sector located in Graz.

For acoustic reasons, the building itself has several skins. Conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt was integrated in the planning of the hall and insisted on the use of materials such as filled wooden elements, wooden panels and textile fabrics for the interior design of the hall.

Thanks to the AVL List company’s vast experience in acoustic research, the hall has become an ideal venue for performances and recordings of classical and contemporary music.
