Beethovenfest Bonn 2019
‘Moonlight’: thus the motto of the 2019 Beethovenfest. What looks at first like a wry allusion to the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ turns out to be fruitful terrain for this year’s programme.
Over the years the Swedish pianist Martin Tingvall has created a cosmos all his own: he tours the world with his Tingvall Trio, cultivates a pan-European reputation as a composer of film scores and pop music and, in his first two solo albums, reveals a pianist of magical introverted serenity. His new album ‘Floating’, scheduled for release in May 2019, presents him more than ever before as a counterweight to our hectic times. Tender, thrillingly beautiful themes of an almost classical quality help the listener to ‘float away’ from everyday life into a different world, like driftwood on the surface of water.
