From 16 July to 5 September 2026, the idyllic villages, churches, and mountain landscapes of the Swiss Saanenland once again become the setting for one of Europe’s most distinctive classical music festivals, where artistic excellence meets the tranquility of the Alps.

Sergei Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet: Suite no. 1, Op.64bis

Overview

Denmark in the spotlight! A dazzling symphonic evening in the Gstaad Festival Tent, entirely dedicated to the North: Making its very first appearance in the region is the Royal Danish Orchestra – the shining star of Danish orchestral culture, whose roots reach back to 1448!

Also on board: Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, who caused a sensation at the grand Festival finale in 2015 with Brahms’ Violin Concerto and is now making a long-awaited return. The programme opens with the Three Pieces for Orchestra by Hans Abrahamsen, one of the leading voices in contemporary Danish music. The work premiered in 2018 by Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic. At the podium stands the exceptional conductor Marie Jacquot, winner of the 2024 Victoires de la musique classique and newly appointed chief conductor of the Royal Danish Orchestra. And did you know? Before Marie Jacquot became the great new hope among French conductors, she stood on a very different stage in her youth – as a junior tennis champion at the French Open!
