Château Saint Esteve d`Uchaux (Uchaux, France)
Château Saint Esteve d`Uchaux
The vineyard of Saint Estève d'Uchaux is located on the southern side of the Uchaux massif. Its terroir is characterized by a lean soil of sand and stones on a background of limestone rocks.
Its mountainous terrain benefits from the influence of the powerful and refreshing mistral and a bright sunshine. The vineyard located in the communes of Uchaux, Sérignan du Comtat and Mondragon covers 58 hectares classified AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages Massif d'Uchaux or regional. The steps undertaken, for ten years, to obtain the classification of the "Massif d'Uchaux", AOC Villages communale have just completed. Thus, since the 2004 vintage, the "Grande Réserve" and the "Vieilles Vignes", both from a blend of Grenache and Syrah, benefit from this appellation. In addition to the traditional winemaking methods, the most recent machines have been developed. Anxious to preserve its soil and its environment, Saint Estève undertook, in 2006, the conversion of its field in organic agriculture. The wines of Saint Estève d'Uchaux, are marked by the specific bouquet of the soil which reflects the soil, the climate, the orientation, and the methods of culture used on the field. In addition to their passion for wine, Marc and Thérèse Français share their love of Franz Liszt's music. So they created in 1998 with a handful of music lovers, the Festival "Liszt en Provence", a festival Liszt dedicated to the memory of "this prophet who has rendered so many services to music and musicians". This famous romantic festival usually takes place in July and August on the terrace of Château Saint Estève illuminated with stars and candles.
