Campiglio Special Week
An absolutely extraordinary event at the end of the three-day trek that will see Mario Brunello and the other three cellists join forces with Jaques Morelenbaum, one of the world’s top exponents of Brazilian music. The concert will be a two-way exchange with the cellos joining in the sound adventures of Morelenbaum and companions and the Brazilian group immersing themselves in classical and Baroque music.
Cello virtuoso and distinguished arranger, Morelenbaum has been a prominent figure throughout the history of Brazilian music in recent decades. His received his musical education at the court of Maestro Tom Jobim and has taken part in the musical productions of some of the greatest national and international artists, including Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Sting and Ryuichi Sakamoto. He has also been involved in cinema, composing and producing with Antonio Pinto the soundtrack to Central do Brazil. He has performed with eminent orchestras in various European capitals and ceaselessly explored the myriad streams of Brazilian music. At Sounds he will perform as a member of the renowned trio that includes extraordinary guitarist Lula Galvâo and percussionist Rafael Barata with a programme that revolves around the sophisticated strains of bossa nova imbued with elements of jazz, harmonic sophistication and melodic serenity.
