Overview

Libretto by the People's Artist of Azerbaijan Medina Aliyeva based on the fairy tales “Thousand and One Nights”

The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater invites the audience to evaluate the ballet in two acts "One Thousand and One Nights". The libretto is based on the famous Oriental fairy tales of Scheherazade. On the stage, the magical world of fairy tales is recreated with characters beloved from childhood (Sinbad the Sailor, Aladdin, Jin, Princess Budur, etc.), with their wonderful transformations and adventures.

On the stage there is a colorful choreographic extravaganza, a harmonious combination of figurative music and classical choreography, the subtle charm of the east staged to the music of the People's Artist of the USSR, the famous Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov.

For many years, the ballet has been performing with great success on various stages around the world. However, "One Thousand and One Nights" at the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater is the first production of the famous ballet on the Belarusian stage.

Choreographer — People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Medina Aliyeva composed a choreographic fairy tale radiating the magic of the Arab East. And, it is not surprising that the diva of the Baku stage chose this particular production. After all, she has appeared on stage more than a hundred times in the role of Scheherazade…

The struggle of good and evil, the glorification of the power of love and beauty, their victory over death and destruction — the main content of the ballet "One Thousand and One Nights". Anger and pain in Shakhriyar's heart — after all, his beloved wife cheated on him. In unbridled anger, he decides to exterminate all women in the state. But then Scheherazade appears. With her fairy tales, she not only entertains and distracts the angry Shahriyar, but in her own way fights violence, cruelty, asserting Beauty, Wisdom, Love and Goodness in the world. In the fight, she is helped by the Rukh bird, Aladdin with his magic lamp, Ali Baba and other heroes of oriental fairy tales. Gradually, feelings awaken in the hardened heart of Shakhriyar. He will spend a thousand and one nights in the land of Scheherazade's fairy tales before he understands and believes that there is true love and loyalty in the world.
