Anna Maria Chiuri has been internationally acclaimed as a true dramatic mezzo-soprano. Her colourful voice and charismatic presence have given vigour to the Verdi roles of Amneris, Azucena, Eboli, Preziosilla, Mrs. Quickly, Ulrica, and Mezzo-Soprano in Messa da Requiem, to the Wagner roles of Ortrud and Fricka, and to the Strauss roles of Klytämnestra and Herodias. Ms. Chiuri has also performed as Adalgisa/Norma, Santuzza/Cavalleria rusticana, Frugola/Zia Principessa/Zita/Ciesca/Il Trittico, Princess of Bouillon/Adriana Lecouvreur, Blind Old Woman/Laura/ Gioconda, Carmen, Ragonde/Le Comte Ory, Dalila/Samson et Dalila.
 

Engagements in 2014/15 include Queen in Svanda Dudak at Teatro Massimo di Palermo (M. Agrest/A. Köhler), Verdi's Requiem with La Verdi in Milan, Azucena in Il Trovatore in Rovigo, Edwige in Guglielmo Tell conducted by G. Noseda at Carnegie Hall New York, in Chigago, Toronto and Ann Arbor/Detroit, Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica and Pepa in Goyescas with Teatro Regio di Torino (D. Renzetti/A. De Rosa), Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht with Orquestra de Cadaques at Palau de la Musica in Barcelona conducted by G. Noseda, Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera (cover) with Metropolitan New York condueted by J. Levine, Amenris in Aida with Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

Engagements in the season 2015/16 include Alexander Nevsky at Festival in Stresa conducted by G. Noseda, Amneris in Aida with Teatro Regio in Turin, Ulrica in Un Ballo in maschera with Teatro di Pavia, Cremona, Brescia and Como, Mahler's 4th Symphony with La Verdi in Milan conudcted by J. Bignamini.

Recent highlights include Beethoven's IX Symphony at Mostly Mozart Festival in New York and Guglielmo Tell at Edinburgh Festival both conducted by G. Noseda; Fricka in Rheingold and Walküre directed by G. Vick at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Mrs. Quickly in Falstaff conducted by Z. Mehta with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Eboli in Don Carlo in Turin (G. Noseda/H. De Ana) and with La Scala di Milano conducted by F. Luisi, Amneris in Aida with Opera Royal de Wallonie conducted by P. Arrivabeni, Edwige in Guglielmo Tell in Turin (G. Vick/ G. Noseda).
Other recent project were: Azucena in Il trovatore with La Fenice in Venice (R. Frizza/ L. Mariani), Der Rosenkavalier with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Z. Mehta/ H. Gramms), Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in Savona (G. Di Stefano), Adriana Lecouvreur in Turin (R. Palumbo/L. Mariani), Elektra and Salome with M. Schweigkofler in Bozen, Modena, Ferrara and Piacenza, Preziosilla in La forza del destino at Opera Sferisterio in Macerata (D. Callegari/P.L. Pizzi), Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera inLiegi (M. Zanetti), Gencchi's Cassandra with Teatro Bellini di Catania (W. Humburg).

In concert Ms. Chiuri has sung at Rudolfinum in Prague in Verdi's Requiem conducted by M. Zanetti and with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, in Bruckner's Te Deum in Florence conducted by Z. Mehta, in Mendelssohn's Ein Sommernachtstraum in Parma conducted by Temirkanov, Berlioz' Les Troyens conducted by Soudant with Teatro Bellini di Catania, in Mozart's Requiem in Florence conducted by Mehta, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with the Belgrad Phiharmonic Orchestra and with Filarmonica Toscanini, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Turin under Noseda, Gianni Schicchi with Santa Cecilia in Rome under V. Jurowski, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder at Ravello Festival.

Anna Maria Chiuri recorded Isidoro Capitanio’s contemporary opera Pasqua fiorentina for Bongiovanni, Bellini’s Mass in G and Sammartini’s Sacred Pieces. On DVD she recorded Un ballo in maschera conducted by R. Chailly for Eurarts and Il Trittico conducted by Julian Reynolds for TDK.

Born in Alto Adige, Anna Maria Chiuri graduated from the Boito Conservatory in Parma, having studied with J. Anvelt and went on to perfect her technique with F. Corelli. She was the winner of several competitions such as Cascinalirica, Del Monaco, Basiola, Tosti, Masini and the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow
