Swiss video designer Andi A. Müller made his Royal Opera debut in 2014 on Die Frau ohne Schatten, directed by Claus Guth.
Müller was born in Basel and studied video art there and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 1989 he began working as a live video performer and video artist, and participated in exhibitions at such venues as the Anthology Film Archives, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, and the Kunsthalle, Basle.
In 2004 he began work as a video designer for opera and theatre at Basle Theatre. He has since worked in many leading European opera houses and theatres. He regularly collaborates with Guth, their productions including the Mozart/Da Ponte operas (Salzburg Festival), Rigoletto (Paris Opéra), Lohengrin (La Scala, Milan), Parsifal (Liceu, Barcelona and Teatro Real, Madrid) and Rodelinda (Teatro Real). Müller’s other opera credits include Mathis der Maler (Zürich Opera), directed by Matthias Hartmann. He works regularly as a video designer for plays at the Zürich Playhouse.
