One of the city’s main venues, the Jockey Theatre was founded in 1920 and has become an important cultural space in the city. From 2015 to 2017, it underwent a revitalization project that followed guidelines that respected the venue’s roots, but also designed it for the future, preserving classic details combined with modern touches, carefully planned to create an atmosphere that elevates each show presented on stage. It has a capacity of 352 comfortable seats in the audience, immersive lighting and impeccable acoustics, combining elegance, history and innovation.
With a varied program, the theater attracts both locals and tourists looking for shows and an immersion in Rio’s vibrant culture. From plays to musical shows and dance events, hosting national and international productions, PRIO is a democratic space that celebrates cultural and artistic diversity.
One of the events that has most delighted patrons of the PRIO Theater are the Candlelight concerts, where the room is illuminated only by the soft light of thousands of candles, creating a warm and intimate setting, where talented musicians perform classical and contemporary music, providing an unforgettable experience, mixing the classical and the modern in a unique way.
