About

Born in Brescia, and a student of renown tenor Mario Malagnini, Luca Micheletti began his opera repertory after a long journey as a theater actor and stage director. He collaborated with famous stage directors such as Luca Ronconi, Marco Bellocchio, Umberto Orsini, performing in the most important Italian theaters.

Micheletti graudted with Theater Sciences in Milan and in Venice, and obtained a Ph.D. in Renaissance Theater at La Sapienza University of Rome.

In 2011 he was awarded the prestigious “Ubu Prize” for his performance in Brecht's Arturo Ui (also the National Critics Award). In 2015 he was awarded the "Luigi Pirandello" International Prize for merits acquired in the theater field.

He specializes in the Brech repertoire singing Kurt Weill (The Threepenny Opera, The Seven Deadly Sins of the petty-bourgeois, The Consenting and the Dissenting), Hans-Dieter Hosalla (The Resistible Ascendancy of Arturo Ui), Kurt Schwaen (The Horatii and Curiazi ).

His most important theatral performances in the major national drama theaters include Shakespeare's Hamlet / Koltès at the Teatro Stabile di Napoli, Koltès's Triptych at the Teatro di Roma, Kafka's metamorphosis for ERT Emilia Romagna Teatro and Teatro Stabile di Brescia, Simon at Festival of the Two Worlds of Spoleto, Pirandello at the Venice Biennale with Luca Ronconi, Mephisto by Mann at the Stabile di Brescia, just to name a few.

Michelleti has also had several soloist performances in music works including Il mondo della luna by Haydn, Carmina Burana by Orff, Cantares populares by Lorca, Maria de Buenos Aires by Piazzolla, Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare / Prokofiev, Histoire du soldat by Stravinsky, Piège de Méduse by Satie.

Recently, he was a finalist at the International Liric Competition "Bazzini" of Montichiari and "Rubini" of Romano, where she won the Special Prize for his participation in La Traviata in the role of Germont. He sang as Silvio in the movie I Pagliacci directed by Marco Bellocchio (Special Event at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival).

During the 2018/19 season he gained an outstanding success as Jago in Cristina Mazzavillani Muti’s production of Otello under the baton of Riccardo Muti, follwed by Il Campanello (Enrico) by Donizetti at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

Among his future plans: Le nozze di Figaro (Conte d’Almaviva) at Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Carmen (Escamillo) at Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, in the dual role of stage director and singer, La bohème (Marcello) at Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Don Giovanni (title role) at Sydeny Opera and at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Rigoletto (title role), La traviata (Germont) and Don Giovanni at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Carmen and Il trovatore at Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, M° Chung conducting, Otello at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and in Tokyo under the baton of M° Riccardo Muti.
