Kulturhaus LA8

The project, with an investment volume of approx. 15 million euros, has a net floor area of approx. 3,750 square meters, of which approx. 400 square meters are allocated to the museum.

Concerts, lectures, conferences and banquets take place in the refurbished social rooms. The Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden is the leaseholder of the restaurant and the event rooms.

At the beginning of April 2009, the GRENKE Foundation opened the Museum of Art and Technology of the 19th Century in the property at Lichtentaler Allee 8.

The museum itself is housed in the new building of the building complex. It is dedicated to conveying the art, culture and history of technology of the 19th century. The museum offers space for extensive presentations on an exhibition area of around 400 square meters.

Thematically, the overlapping of art and technology in the history of ideas, as well as their productive and cultural tensions, which are still important even for today's society, are of particular interest. These aspects are highlighted in themed exhibitions that change every six months and conveyed to the public using numerous exhibits and publications accompanying the exhibition. In order to gain a comprehensive insight into the respective focus, not only contemporary documents and paintings but also technical achievements - if possible in the original - should be shown.

The property on Lichtentaler Allee sees itself as a forum for imparting scientific knowledge and as a center of cultural activities of various orientations - music, literature, performing arts - in cooperation with institutions of supraregional importance. Before the exhibition opens, a conference will present the topic to the public on an interdisciplinary scientific level. During the temporary exhibitions, lectures and cultural events such as readings and concerts offer another opportunity to deal with the topic beyond the exhibits.
